Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup jasmine rice
  • 1 large yellow onion thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 cups water or broth
  • ½ teaspoon salt plus more to taste

Instructions
 

  • Rinse jasmine rice under cold water until water runs clear.
  • In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
  • Add sliced onion and a pinch of salt. Cook 12–15 minutes until golden.
  • Stir in rinsed rice. Toast for 2–3 minutes.
  • Add water (or broth) and additional salt. Bring to a boil.
