- 1 cup jasmine rice
- 1 large yellow onion thinly sliced
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 cups water or broth
- ½ teaspoon salt plus more to taste
Rinse jasmine rice under cold water until water runs clear.
In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
Add sliced onion and a pinch of salt. Cook 12–15 minutes until golden.
Stir in rinsed rice. Toast for 2–3 minutes.
Add water (or broth) and additional salt. Bring to a boil.
