This easy Beef and Broccoli Stir Fry tastes just like your favorite takeout, but better! Thin slices of tender flank steak are seared and tossed with crisp-tender broccoli in a savory, slightly sweet sesame soy sauce. Serve it over rice for a quick, satisfying dinner.

Ingredients
  

Beef and Broccoli

  • 1 lb flank steak thinly sliced
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil divided
  • 1 lb broccoli about 6 cups florets
  • 2 tsp sesame seeds optional for garnish

Stir Fry Sauce

  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 2 tsp grated garlic
  • 1/2 cup hot water
  • 6 Tbsp low sodium soy sauce
  • 3 Tbsp packed light brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 Tbsp sesame oil

Instructions
 

  • Start cooking rice. Freeze beef 30 minutes, then slice thinly.
  • In a bowl, whisk together all stir fry sauce ingredients.
  • Heat 1 Tbsp oil in a skillet. Add broccoli, sauté 4-5 min, then remove.
  • Add 1 Tbsp oil and cook beef 2 min per side until browned.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a splash of rice vinegar or a pinch of red pepper flakes.
  • Works great with chicken, shrimp, or tofu as a variation.
