Ingredients
  

  • 3 pounds baby back pork ribs also called pork loin back ribs
  • ½ yellow onion sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • ½ cup water
  • About 1 cup of your favorite BBQ sauce

Dry Rub:

  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons Kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions
 

  • Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs using a knife to loosen and peel it off completely.
  • Pat ribs dry.
  • Mix the dry rub ingredients and apply generously to both sides of the ribs.
  • Place ribs in a large slow cooker.
  • Add onions, garlic, and water to the center. Cover tightly.
  • Cook on LOW for 6 hours (6.5 hours for larger racks) until tender but not falling apart.
  • Carefully transfer ribs to a sheet pan.

Notes

  • Removing the membrane is key for the best texture—don’t skip it!
  • Use homemade or store-bought BBQ sauce—both work great.
  • For a spicier kick, add cayenne pepper or hot sauce to your rub or glaze.
