Sweet Lemon Preserve (Lemon Syrup Jars)

These Sweet Lemon Preserves are easy, bright, and incredibly versatile. Thinly sliced lemons are layered with sugar and stored in jars to create a naturally sweet and tangy lemon syrup that’s perfect for teas, desserts, cocktails, and more.

Ingredients
  

  • 8 lemons for 3 pint jars
  • 2 –3 cups sugar
  • 3 pint-size glass jars with lids

Instructions
 

  • Wash and sterilize jars with boiling water.
  • Wash lemons and slice into rings or half moons.
  • Add ½ lemon slices to each jar, top with 3 tbsp sugar.
  • Continue layering lemon and sugar, pressing gently.
  • Fill to top with sugar, seal, and refrigerate.
  • Let sit 1–2 days until syrup forms. Use and enjoy!

Notes

  • Use organic lemons if possible, since the peels are included.
  • Add a little grated ginger or mint for a flavor twist.
